Climbers to grow in every garden

We've selected 5 climbers to grow up your garden trellis or fence or perhaps a pergola and for privacy. Many climbers can be grown in larger containers with the support of a back board or trellis so they have something to climb up. There are so many to choose from - some growing more vigorously than others, some with flowers and some with varied foliage. Many climbers can be great for wildlife, encouraging insects for birds and a place for them to rest and nest. Whichever climber you choose, it is sure to add interest and delight to your garden.

1. Clematis

There are so many varieties of Clematis to choose from, there's one or more for every garden, every aspect and most soils. We've a host of Clematis in stock at Lakeside. Two beauties on flower at the moment are Piilu - medium-sized with pink double flowers and contrasting yellow centres and Voluceau - a beautiful frost-hardy, wall climber with large red flowers and yellow stamens. Both are early Summer flowering.

2. Climbing/Rambling Roses

Super Fairy is a delightful, delicate climbing rose with light pink flowers and glossy green foliage. It's perfect for walls, trellis and arches. Another stunning climber is Lilac Bouquet. It's highly fragrant with clusters of semi-double lilac pink flowers through the Summer and into Autumn and is almost thorn-free. Award-winning Rambling Rosie hosts clusters of lighted scented, vivid red flowers that appear in flushes. It's repeat flowering, loves the full sun and returns year on year.
