Plant of the Month for February

Camellias are still in bud at this time of year to overcome the Winter and keep their bright blooms a secret until the Spring. Their flowers tend to be produced in one single flush and are one of the best evergreen shrubs for colour from late March into early April. Planting is best in an area with dappled shade, out of the wind and in slightly acidic soil.
